East India Company: Select Committee of Supercargoes, Chinese Secretary's Office: Chinese-language Correspondence and Papers. 1817: CHIA CH'ING XXII. Order from Hoppo to hong merchants. The viceroy has learned from the subprefect for Macao that Chinese traitors, who escaped the raid, were cutting type in the Company's Macao premises and that translations were seized, and has ordered that no repetitionof this illegality is to be permitted by the taipan.
